Raising money for Cancer Research

Over the summer term the children at the Rosary BarBar preschool and after school club have been raising money for Cancer research.

The children planned events to raise money, including dressing up as princesses and pirates and having themed activities, making and holding a cake sale, running their own 1K race for life and the Staff also took part in the 5K mud run to help raise awareness. The children have also created a donation station where the nursery and school parents were able to donate items which will then be sold in cancer research charity shops.

Overall the children and staff have raised a massive total of £1179.25!!! Well done to all of the children at the Rosary BarBar!

It’s a GOOD for Kingsway!

We are pleased to announce that our Kingsway setting has been graded Good by Ofsted in its latest inspection, on 23rd June 2017!

We are delighted with this result and are happy that the high standard of care and learning that we provide for our children has been recognised.

Thank you to all our Parents that give us continued support and to all the children and staff for making it the loving, friendly and welcoming nursery that it is. Well Done!

Homework!

At Stratford Park we have started to send home activities for children to do with their parents and families as informal “homework”. For the first “homework” activity, the pre-school children went home with a skittles experiment, so the children could observe the colours mix and come away from the sweets. This followed on from learning about colours and colour mixing at nursery. Some parents sent us photos, observations and comments from when their child completed their tasks. It was lovely to see these pictures; we talked to the children at nursery about how their activities went.

As we had such positive comments, we thought we would share our experiences with the rest of Stroud. We placed an article in the Stroud News and Journal on Wednesday 11th January; it was published showing two of our children completing their experiment at home and some of the children’ and parent’s comments.

We plan to carry on setting informal “homework” for the children to try once a term. This term, the babies will have a simple task too!

Stratford Park Christmas Play

At Stratford Park this Christmas, we decided to put on a Christmas production of, The Three Little Christmas Trees! The babies made Christmas tree hats and sang along to all the songs. The pre-school children were given characters and made costumes and hats to suit their roles. The children learnt eight new songs and sang very loudly!

We also served mulled punch and Christmas snacks for the parents and families and the children had juice and snacks. Most parents and families came to watch the play and we had lots of lovely comments.

One parent said: “Thank you very much for the children’s Christmas play this year. We appreciate that events like that are above and beyond expectations so they are even more appreciated. A lovely way to start the Christmas season. Many Thanks!” L. Stoten

Christmas Concert, December 2016

The Children performed really well in the Christmas Concert this year…They sung a variety of different Christmas Carols, including ‘The Christmas Tree Song, Father Christmas, Away in a Manger, Jingle Bells and many more. The story this year was ‘When I dream of Christmas’ and this was incorporated into the singing, along with props, which the children had made.

Many parents came to watch and support their children singing and this was enjoyed by all. After the children had sung all their songs, a surprise guest arrived, ‘Father Christmas’ which the children loved, and they visited his Grotto to receive their Christmas Present.

Merry Christmas from all the Team at BarBar, Kingsway!
